An Open Mic to bring the young people of Bhuj together
July 12, 2025
We organised an open mic event with the young people of Bhuj to bring them together and share their talents through poetry and songs.

Through captivating performances of Kutchi-Gujarati poems, ghazals, and evergreen Hindi songs by Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi, young people lit up the ‘Open Mic’ event organised by the ‘Homes In The City’ project at Dada-Dadi Park in Bhuj. The event, held in collaboration with institutions like Sandhyadeep and Hasya Club, saw a large turnout of Bhuj’s art lovers, who enjoyed an evening filled with joy and music.
In today’s fast-paced life, young people often get distanced from their talents and hobbies amidst the pressures of education and employment. And even when they have free time, mobile phones often consume it. In such a situation, the ‘Homes In The City’ project, supported by local voluntary organisations in Bhuj, organised the ‘Open Mic’ event at Dada-Dadi Park with the intention of encouraging youth to reconnect with their passions and enjoy light-hearted moments together. The event provided a platform for youth to express their interests through songs, ghazals, poetry recitation, and humorous poems.
Performers included Shiraz Node from Mandvi, Bharat Jogoo, Dr. Simi Kansara from Bhuj, Dharmesh Antani, Pratik Joshi, Bhavika Bosmiya, Ayushi Barot, Sameer Solanki, Sonal Bhatia, Saleha Memon, Keval Makwana, Vedant Vishal, Hansika Fafal, Prahladsinh Sodha, R.K. Jadeja, Manish Rajgor, and Maulik Jani — a total of 23 young participants who mesmerised the audience with one excellent performance after another. Their presentations included Rafi-Kishore songs, self-composed poems, and Kutchi-Gujarati literary pieces, all of which were met with enthusiastic applause. In fact, even passers-by and vehicle riders stopped outside the park to enjoy the musical atmosphere. All these young performers have now been brought together into a group that will continue organising such melodic programs in the future.
The event was hosted by HIC’s Jay Anjaria. Sourav Roy, Nayana Charaniya, Dipali Pancholi, Karishma Fazwani, and Pallavi Parmar from the organisation contributed to organising the event. The team also received support from Krishnakant Bhatia of Sandhyadeep Group and Jagdish Gor of Hasya Club.
