Our Work

Climate Change

We bring people together to secure our water, grow forests in the city, and prepare those who are worst hit by this crisis.

An old stone arch bridge spans across a rocky ravine in an arid landscape.

Our initiatives

We take action where it matters most

Context

Our children will inherit the Earth we leave behind—along with the scars of human and industrial activity. They will shape it further as co-inhabitants, citizens, and change-makers.

UEE aims to foster in them the awareness that small, meaningful actions today can lead to a more sustainable and liveable future. By educating public school children in Bhuj, the program builds knowledge and skills to address local environmental challenges—creating a ripple of awareness and change from classrooms and households to the city at large.

Our Interventions

  • Developed a curriculum with games, videos, and other engaging content, integrating key local environmental issues guided by insights from HIC’s partners.
  • Conducting workshops with public school students to deliver this curriculum, while involving the teachers.
  • Organised excursions across Bhuj to introduce students to the region's natural environment and conservation practices.
  • Organising small scale events, competitions (drama, drawing) to engage the students in creative ways.

Our Impact

  • Conducted 170 workshops, on water and waste management, reaching 3000+ students in 12 schools .
  • Awarded the 3rd place in the Education Category at the Climate Change Award 2024-25, presented by the Government of Gujarat.
  • Received an encouragement award from the Collector and District Education Officer of Kachchh.
  • Instances of children taking small climate conscious steps at school and at home have been observed.
  • Schools are adopting practices led by students to use water more consciously.
